EVERYONE HAS A BRILLIANCE

My mind exploded when I heard what Mark C. was saying. We were at a unique hands-on workshop, and I had been blown away all morning by the energy, ideas, and advice that emerge when you bring three people together at a table. That’s when I heard the whispering in my heart: “Everyone has A Brilliance.”
That workshop cemented my burning desire to tell you that you’re not ordinary—you’re extraordinary—and why I’m convinced of that..
What makes me so sure? It’s because of Melody.
Have you ever gotten a surprising email?
About a month earlier, I received a surprise email:
…It’s Melody. Is this still Laura’s email? It’s been a lonnnnggggg timmmmeee… but you’re coming to my mind to reach out.”
That was the entire message. As I thought about it, I realized I hadn’t heard from her in over 6 years. It was easy for me to remember because of my husband’s death, which I was pretty sure she didn’t know about. We set up a time for a Zoom call. I wondered where she was living, as the last time we saw her, she was in the Air Force.
When we connected on the call, our conversation went something like this:
…we talked about her faith, friends, and purpose.
…She felt stalled and relieved as I echoed her sentiments. Ones I’ve heard repeatedly: My friends love Jesus but aren’t interested in going to church, we’re burned out on religion and know that there’s got to be more, much, much more.
…We discussed the growing body of consumer Christians who gorged on content, wishing for the supernatural life, but not living it, people who live in the land of beige religion, being preached at and told not to think.
…As I listened, I heard desire and desperation all at the same time, I saw a young woman bursting with the love of Christ.
…I know I was born to leave a legacy; I just feel like I’m stuck, not moving.
…We discussed relationships and mentoring, and I asked her if she was ready for a spiritual upgrade, to become what I call a “Significant Influencer, a Destiny Seeker, a Destiny Shaper.
Can you relate to Melody? I certainly can and have heard these same thoughts countless times over the years from others.
I’m so glad she called, as just a month later, she found herself sitting with me and a few other friends at this workshop. She was brimming with ideas, excitement, and connection—ready to move on to the next level. Some of us in the tribe have been mentoring her and she’s more purposeful and passionate than ever before, looking ahead to the adventure of finishing her book, launching her website, and getting ready to be interviewed on my podcast.

How do you see people?
At the workshop, I gained a new perspective on each person present. While I’ve always believed that everyone carries a piece of the Divine within them, experiencing the group’s dynamics, creativity, and passion amplified this idea. It became clear that each of us possesses “A Brilliance” waiting to be discovered.”
I guess I’ve written this just to encourage you that your own brilliance is just waiting to be uncovered! I want to share two steps that have really helped me and others in our community. These may not seem like much, but I always remind myself that small steps lead to big changes. Never despise the day of small beginnings. I love supernatural transformation—it’s exciting and wonderful to see somebody transformed in the blink of an eye—but celebrating the journey by doing the small stuff can be just as gratifying.
2 short steps to identify your Brilliance!
- Go out with a friend and ask them what makes you special, why they enjoy being with you, or what would be missing in their life if they hadn’t met you. Write down their responses and focus on a couple of keywords.
Someone might say, “When I’m with you, I feel that you’re truly present. You’re never distracted; you’re focused and caring.” Or someone else might say, “When I’m at my wit’s end, you always seem to call at just the right time. You’re intuitive.” You might hear things like, “I never feel judged when I’m around you,” or “I can always count on you to encourage me or give me a better perspective.” Someone else might say, “You always know what to say when I’m down. You always have a scripture,” or “I can always count on you to see something in me that I can’t see in myself.”
Find those keywords: It could be that you’re a great listener, have a great sense of humor, are resourceful, or possess wisdom.
- Start to think about yourself that way because those qualities were written on your destiny scroll before the beginning of time. You might not think of those things as brilliance, but they are a shining spark of life for others.
You are a reflection of the Divine. One of my favorite scriptures says that as we gaze upon Christ, we end up looking more and more like him. So we created this graphic for you to use as a screensaver to remind yourself that you were born for something greater than yourself. Just spend 7 days looking at it daily as a reminder that you have a special Brilliance given to you by the Creator of the universe.
